A MAN who died when his car crashed into a field had recently been awarded a commendation for bravery.

Lewis Redshaw, 19, died when he lost control of a green BMW 316 at Argham crossroads on the road from Grindale to Burton Fleming last Wednesday.

She spoke of her pride in Lewis and said his death had left "an irreplaceable gap".

"Lewis was such a kind and caring son, he had a wicked sense of humour and had a strong enthusiastic character which filled a room and made everyone smile," she said.

"My son was one in a million; he has left an irreplaceable gap. I couldn't have wished for a better son. We had a special bond and he was always there for me. He filled me with pride everyday."

Mr Redshaw was a third-year accountancy student at East Riding College who enjoyed weight training and listening to music.

He idolised the reggae star Bob Marley and last November travelled to Jamaica to visit Marley's grave. He was also invited to meet the singer's brother.

Ms Marshall said her son's death had also left his father, sister and two brothers "devastated".

She said she also wanted to thank the police and her family and friends for the help and support she has been given.

She said: "Lewis will leave a big hole in a lot of people's lives and because of his young and enthusiastic outlook on life, people who knew him will look back and smile at his memory.
