Deaths of pair found at house in North Yorkshire is unexplained

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a couple who it is thought had not been seen for a week before police found their bodies.

The alarm was raised in the Dalton area of North Yorkshire and North Yorkshire Police attended a property at Islebeck near Thirsk at 8.20am on Wednesday February 1 after concerns were raised for the occupants.

A police spokesperson confirmed that when officers arrived at the scene they found the bodies of a man and a woman.

An investigation is now underway to determine the full circumstances of their deaths which are being treated as “unexplained at this time”.

The spokesperson added that they are unable to name the two people as formal identification has not yet been carried out.
