Depression takes heart out of life

The combination of depression and heart disease is more deadly than either factor alone.

It is already known that both conditions can increase the risk of dying from a heart attack or stroke, but there has been little research on both factors combined. Experts in the journal Heart – after following 6,000 middle-aged British men and women – concluded risks are higher if a person is depressed and suffers from heart disease.
