Design awards for national park launched

A COMPETITION has been launched to celebrate the best design and workmanship across the North York Moors.

The biennial North York Moors National Park Authority Design Awards is to inspire excellence in new buildings within the sensitive landscapes of the area.

Previous winners include the conversion of a former chapel at Dunsley near Whitby and Lythe Village Hall.

Ailsa Teasdale, the national park authority’s planning officer co-ordinating the awards, said: “The quality of the buildings in the North York Moors and the character of its villages and hamlets are an important part of the national park’s charm and appeal.”
