Details of Bradley Lowery's funeral are announced

The family of six-year-old cancer patient Bradley Lowery have announced details of his funeral.

Bradley died last week after a long battle with the rare childhood cancer neuroblastoma, but his bravery during the illness captured hearts around the world.

His parents have confirmed he will be laid to rest in a ceremony at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in his home village of Blackhall Colliery in County Durham.

The funeral will take place on Friday July 14 at 11.15am and will be open to anyone who wishes to celebrate the Sunderland fan's life.

Speakers will be erected outside the church to allow those who cannot find space inside to listen to the service.

A private ceremony at a crematorium will also be held for his family.

The Lowerys have chosen the theme 'cancer has no colour' for the funeral, and welcome mourners who choose to wear football shirts belonging to any team or club.

They have requested that only relatives donate flowers, and although the media will not be allowed to officially cover the event, they have invited journalists who have covered Bradley's story to attend in a personal capacity.
