Detectives arrest second suspect after man murdered in Barnsley

A second suspect is being questioned by police after a man was killed in Barnsley.

Detectives with South Yorkshire Police today arrested a 35-year-old man as their investigation continues into the death of Richard Broughton.

Mr Broughton, 37, was taken to hospital after an altercation in Welland Crescent, Elsecar, just before 7pm on Friday.

It is believed that he was hit by a car during the incident.

He suffered fatal injuries and died yesterday.

A police spokesman said: "The 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and is in custody being questioned.

"This relates to a reported disturbance prior to the incident in Welland Crescent, Elsecar, on Friday.

"A 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody."
