Detectives make renewed appeal to public for information after Leeds murder

A 22-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman remain in custody having been arrested on suspicion of murder.

They appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court today (May 9) where warrants of further detention were granted to give officers extra time to continue questioning them.

Mr Amoh was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post-mortem examination has given the cause of his death as a head injury.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw people arriving or leaving the address to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Bryar, of West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “Although two people have been arrested and remain in custody, we are still working to establish the full circumstances surrounding Clifford’s murder, and the community has a vital role to play in that.

“His family are understandably devastated to have lost him in such sudden and violent circumstances and we have specialist officers supporting them at what is clearly a very difficult time.

“It has been very clear from the large number of people visiting the scene to lay flowers and pay tribute, and from numerous comments on social media, that Clifford was a well-liked and popular man in this close-knit community. Many people will have known him by his nickname ‘Papi’.”

“I get a real sense that people are in disbelief that this has happened to someone who was so well-liked, and that people want to see those responsible brought to justice.

“Witnesses report seeing between six and ten people running from the address and we believe there will be people out there who will know who was involved.”

DCI Bryar added: “Those individuals were mainly believed to be black males, although one was described as white. They ran from Coldcotes Crescent and across Harehills Cemetery and the neighbouring playing fields.

“While we have spoken to a number of witnesses we would still like to hear from anyone who saw any part of the incident at the address or who saw the suspects running off. We would also like to hear from anyone who has any information about who was involved or who knows anything about the circumstances surrounding the murder.”
