Detectives to quiz Griffiths on murder mysteries

Detective Superintendent Sukhbir Singh said they would try to speak to him in prison about any other crimes he may have committed.

But he said Griffiths "likes to control the situation" so officers did not know how helpful he would be.

Having secured his conviction the next phase of their inquiry was "reviewing a comprehensive timeline looking at his movements with colleagues both nationally and locally to see if there are any links between him and other disappearances."

Det Supt Singh said meetings had already been held with some forces including South Yorkshire and the Metropolitan and more would follow.

He said Griffiths was not being linked with any specific missing person or the disappearance of other sex workers.

"We have no evidence to do so at the moment so it would not be right to speculate but that is why we will be working with colleagues around the country."

Griffiths gave no help to the police about where he disposed of the body parts of his victims. But, although parts were found of both Suzannne Blamires and Shelley Armitage in the River Aire, no remains of Susan Rushworth have ever been found.

"He is heartless and cold and has shown no feelings for their families," Det Supt Singh added.

"I hope the knowledge that Griffiths is now behind bars will bring some comfort to all those lives he has affected."
