Dinner aims to be a scoop

A MENU with a difference will show that ice cream is not just a sweet treat.

Diners will sit down to six courses – with ice cream for starter, main course and dessert, not to mention ice cream canapés, an ice cream fish course and an ice cream accompaniment with coffee. But they need not be alarmed as many of the ice cream flavours being used are savoury rather than sweet. The starter will be a roasted Yorkshire onion tartlet topped with Shepherds Purse Harrogate Blue ice cream.

Drewton’s Farm Shop, at South Cave, near Hull, is offering the menu on April 11 at the latest in its series of Come Dine With Me events, aiming to showcase the network of more than 250 Yorkshire-based food and drink producers.
