Discarded sausage costslorry driver £600

A lorry driver was ordered to pay more than £600 for throwing a sausage out of his cab window. David Higham, 51, was seen by environment officials committing the offence in a lay-by at Ainley Top roundabout, West Yorkshire.

Higham, of Irlam, Manchester, was given a 75 fixed penalty notice but failed to pay. He did not appear at Huddersfield magistrates’ court on Thursday and was found guilty in his absence. He was fined 175 with 429 costs plus 15 victim surcharge.
