Disney’s dalmatian song hits the spot giving White Rosettes champion title

A LEEDS-based all-female 
a cappella – singing without instrumental accompaniment – group have won their 14th national title.

The White Rosettes became Ladies’ Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS)Chorus champions with the highest scores ever awarded for that competition.

They performed the Disney song Cruella De Vil fromthe animation favourite 101 Dalmatians and received a standing ovation from the crowd at the competition in Llandudno, North Wales.

Chair of the group Caroline Green, 67, said: “Our director almost had to stop the song half-way through because the audience were on their feet. We were absolutely amazed to receive that reaction from the audience.”

The chorus were contacted by the Queen to wish them luck after Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire Major Stan Hardy informed her of the group’s achievement.

Caroline, from Wetherby, 
has been a member for 10 years and said: “I always enjoyed barbershop singing, like the Everly Brothers.

“I said the one thing I would regret was never joining a barbershop quartet so I was very fortunate to find this group.”

Members are aged from 16 to over 75.
