Divine intervention to calm your wedding nerves

WORRIES about the dress, the cake and even whether the bride will turn up at all are just a few of the worries faced by any couple preparing for marriage.

However, the myriad stresses and troubles that couples have to face when preparing to walk down the aisle can now be commended to the Almighty under a new prayer scheme unveiled by the Church of England.

The Church has unveiled a specially designed "prayer postcard" upon which couples can write down their hopes and fears for the big day, safe in the knowledge that it will be seen by a priest who will then to pray for them in the week before their big day.

The Church guarantees that every card, which are to be handed out at major wedding shows all over the country, would be passed to a priest who will offer prayers for them.

The scheme comes as the Church of England signalled its intentions to appear at wedding fairs around the country, traditionally home to the country's wedding industries.

As well as being able to look at vintage cars and ideas for wedding invites, couples will also be able to get tips on choices of hymns and readings from a specially selected set of vicars who have conducted hundreds of wedding days.

The Rev Rosie Harper, who has conducted more than 150 wedding ceremonies, said: "Your wedding day is the best day of your life. The last thing you want is to feel terribly nervous, worry about a speech or fret about the arrangements.

"If couples tell us what they're worried about, we'll remember them in our prayers in the run-up to their wedding. It demonstrates how we're not just there for the big day, we're there for them beforehand, and for their life together afterwards."

The average cost of a wedding has been estimated to be 20,000.
