'Divorce generation' aims to tie the knot younger

Children of the divorce generation have kept faith in marriage and want to tie the knot younger than their parents did, a survey claims.

More than eight out of 10 young women with divorced or separated parents still dream of walking down the aisle in their mid-20s.

Yet four out of 10 women over 26 fear they have fallen into "Bridget Jones" territory having already loved and lost Mr Right, according to a survey commissioned by More magazine.

Despite soaring divorce rates, 78 per cent see marriage as the "ultimate commitment".

The survey of 2,000 young women in their mid-20s showed they would ideally like to be married at 26 and have their first child at 27.

They also said they would rather marry Prince Harry (53 per cent) than Prince William (47 per cent).
