Diwali event to be staged by Army Gurkhas
GURKHAS based at Europe’s largest military base will showcase their culture to communities in North Yorkshire.
The British Gurkhas and Nepalese Community, whose members are stationed at the Army base at Catterick Garrison, is holding an annual Diwali festival in Colburn as part of its community integration programme. Richmondshire District Council gave the festival and the Dashain Cultural Programme £1,900.
The event takes place in Colburn Village Hall on November 3 from 2pm to 11 pm. Tickets cost £6 and more information is available on Bini Gurung on 07902 875572.
