"Do not travel" rail operator warns after lightening strikes on Wolds line

People are being warned not to travel between parts of north and east Yorkshire due to weather disruption.

There are currently no trains between Beverley and Bridlington on the east coast after lightening damaged the signalling system overnight.

It is affecting services in both directions say rail provider Northern and there are not likely to be any services on the Wolds line until tomorrow (Sunday).

A spokesperson said: "We have not been able to gain any replacement services and urge all customers not to travel today.

"There is currently no fixed estimate from Network Rail regarding the extent of the damage, how long it will take to fix the problems and therefore how long the disruption will last."
