Doctor botches fly-tipping operation

A DOCTOR who paid someone to get rid of his waste has been ordered to pay almost £750 after it was found dumped.

Dr Samuel Omoregie, of Melrose Street, Hull, was prosecuted after waste including cardboard boxes, wood, a shower tray, a toilet, a toilet cistern, a washbasin, suitcase, and paint tins, were found dumped illegally in Brickyard Lane, Melton, during a routine inspection by a team of East Riding Council officers.

He was found guilty after a trial at Beverley Magistrates’ Court and was fined £150 and ordered to pay £576.48 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

After the hearing, John Skidmore, head of the council’s streetscene services, said: “Dealing with waste that has been illegally dumped costs East Riding taxpayers thousands of pounds every year to clean it up. There is absolutely no excuse for it.

“Where we can obtain evidence and where someone witnesses it and reports it to us, we will prosecute.”

Failing to ensure waste is properly disposed of could result in a fine of up to £5,000.

The council is advising people to take details of anyone employed to transport their waste.
