Dog owners brave the snow to help a hospice

Three-year-old Kadie Whitham from Farsley with her grandmother's dog Cookie braved icy conditions at a West Yorkshire beauty spot to take part in a sponsored dog walk to raise money for a Leeds hospice.

Snow and freezing temperatures failed to deter the hardy fundraisers and their pooches from stepping out at Golden Acre Park to boost funds for St Gemma’s Hospice.

Hospice fundraiser Anne Malia said: “The turnout was amazing considering the weather. About 60 turned up.” Organisers hope to raise 10,000 for the Moortown hospice which offers its services free of charge to patients and their families. Picture: Jonathan Gawthorpe.
