A fire service spokesman said: “We assisted in the rescue. The animal was stuck on the island and clearly distressed. Several members of the public had seen the animal. It’s unclear if it was thrown in or jumped in. We used a water sledge and a cage to bring the dog back to shore. It is now with the RSPCA.”
