Ms Brown said she hopes the man’s new-found publicity will encourage him to think twice about where he lets his pooch relieve itself.

“I couldn’t believe how brazen and brave he was,” she said.

“Obviously I was enraged. He obviously knew where his dog left its mess. I was pretty disgusted by what it did.

“He literally walked over, the dog did the mess, and he walked off.

“It’s a disgrace to dog owners,” Ms Brown added,

“It’s not the nicest job in the world but if you have a dog, you clean up after it.

“Dog mess is a problem around here, particularly on George Street.

People should be aware that CCTV footage is on properties. A lot of people don’t have it, but more should be available for a more proactive response.”

A council spokesman added: “We will always investigate incidents of dog fouling and if we can identify the owners responsible we will challenge them and it can lead to us issuing a fixed penalty notice.

To report incidents of dog fouling contact East Riding Council’s dog warden team on (01482) 396301 or email [email protected].”
