Dogs take centre stage at Harewood House
More than 8,000 dogs took their turn taking centre stage over three days of competition at the Leeds Championship Dog Show this weekend.
It is the 30th year the show, the fifth largest in the country, has taken place at Harewood House. After starting life at Roundhay Park in the 1950s, the show moved to Temple Newsam before moving to its current location.
Show secretary Liz Stannard said this year’s event featured a completely new layout, including new judging tents, ensuring the show could carry out despite today’s showers. Class winners at the Kennel Club-endorsed show will be eligible for a place at Crufts.
“We have seen lots of promising puppies that will do well in the future,” Mrs Stannard said.
In total, 155 breeds were shown over 40 rings.
