Detective constable Alison Shields from Doncaster’s child abuse investigation team said: “Ferguson’s crimes are, quite simply, inexcusable and deplorable. He subjected his victims, both of whom were under ten-years-old, to horrific offending.

“He denied his guilt throughout our investigation, resulting in a trial where the girls’ awful ordeals had to be repeated before the court.

“I hope that the guilty conviction and jail sentence offers some small form of reassurance for his victims and their families, as they attempt to move forward and rebuild their lives.”

Upon release, Ferguson will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
