A PERVERT from South Yorkshire who sexually assaulted a Shetland pony has admitted possession of a ‘snuff movie’ - similar to a rape he committed involving strangulation.

Alan Barnfield, 45, a convicted rapist, was told the film depicting a young womans rape and murder had similarities to the rape he had carried out in 2001 as both involved strangulation.

The videos and images came to light when police searched Barnfield’s flat in Hexthorpe Lane, Doncaster, following reports he had had sexual intercourse with a Shetland pony, a court heard.

More than 47,000 indecent images and 1,400 pornographic videos were found on an external hard drive at his flat.

Most were legal but some were described as more serious, including videos and images of people engaging in sexual activity with a great Dane and horses.

The snuff video, depicting an acted violent rape and murder of a young woman by her father, was described as deeply disturbing by a judge due to Barnfield’s previous conviction of raping a 16-year old girl and strangling her with her

own clothing.

Barnfield was cleared of having sex with the pony, named Sky, but was found guilty of outraging public decency in January and is currently serving a two-year prison sentence.

Sentencing him to seven more years at Sheffield Crown Court, Judge Peter Kelson QC told him: “The video is deeply disturbing because it echoes the rape you committed.

“It is extremely unsettling that you are still getting sexual gratification from a video so similar to the crime you committed.

“I cannot regard you as anything other than dangerous.”

Barnfield changed his pleas mid-way through his latest trial and admitted three charges of possessing videos and images relating to children and animals.

He had previously admitted three further charges in November 2013.

In addition to his jail time, Barnfield was also given a sexual harm prevention order and will not be allowed to use the internet unless his browser history is made available to a police officer.

He is also prevented from having any contact with any child under the age of 16.
