Doors open for multi-faith festival

Places of worship across Kirklees will be opening their doors in July for a multi-faith festival giving residents the opportunity to experience what goes on inside local places of worship.

Treasures Revealed in Kirklees takes place every year, to encourage understanding and build relationships between the various faith communities that make Kirklees such a culturally and spiritually rich and diverse place to live.

A number of churches, a Sikh temple and a Hindu temple will open their doors for visitors to learn about the beliefs and practices of different faiths. There will be guided tours, music, food and much more for curious local residents to experience at various participating venues throughout the region.

Hannah Taylor, of the Kirklees Faiths Forum, which organises the festival said: “Kirklees is home to so many fascinating faiths but we rarely have chance to see inside each other’s places of worship or to learn about each other’s beliefs and practices.”
