Double delight as Minster to host filming of prestigious TV shows

TWO of the UK's most historic and prestigious television programmes are to recorded at Beverley Minster next month.

For the first time in their histories, BBC One's Sunday evening pairing of the Antiques Roadshow and Songs of Praise will be taped in the East Yorkshire town.

Songs of Praise, hosted by Aled Jones, will be recorded in the Minster on May 10 and 11. The cameras and lighting will then stay in place as Fiona Bruce and the Roadshow experts arrive for their recording on Friday, May 14.

Both programmes are likely to be transmitted on the same Sunday evening in the autumn.

The producers hope the presenters and experts will be involved briefly in both – as Fiona and Aled meet in the Minster.

Antiques Roadshow series editor Simon Shaw said: "We are very excited that two big BBC brands are going to be co-operating in such an innovative way and at such a stunning location."

Anyone wishing to attend the Antiques Roadshow filming can do so between 9.30 am and 4.30pm on the Friday.

Fiona Bruce said: "Presenting the Antiques Roadshow is, for me, one of those rare and very lucky coincidences in television when you get to work on a show that you already love to watch.

"Exploring the human story behind every object is what makes Antiques Roadshow so fascinating."
