Double murder inquiry launched as bodies found

Officers made the grim find after being called at 12.30pm to an address on Waddington Avenue in Burnley. The victims had not been identified last night.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "The deaths are being treated as suspicious and an investigation is now under way.

"It is a double murder investigation. No arrests have been made."

Police were making door-to-door inquiries in Waddington Avenue, which is on a large council estate on the eastern edge of the town.

Officers gave no further information about the victims or how they were murdered.

A spokeswoman said the inquiry was in its early stages.
