Drive to raise awareness of alcohol misuse

PROBATION service bosses are hoping to raise awareness of the role of alcohol in crime as part of National Alcohol Awareness Week.

West Yorkshire Probation Trust will be working with other agencies next week, encouraging people to have conversations about the health risks, social problems, stigmas and taboos associated with alcohol as well as encouraging people to drink sensibly and promote sensible drinking.

Jude Roberts, West Yorkshire Probation Trust’s Partnerships Manager said; “It really is time to talk about drinking. The effects of alcohol misuse impacts not only on individuals but their families and communities.

“Alcohol misuse can give rise to serious problems of disorderly conduct, nuisance, criminal
damage and alcohol-related assaults.”
