Driver dies after Porsche hits tree in Harrogate

POLICE are appealing for information about a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision near Harrogate.

It happened at 11pm on Saturday on Almsford Bank on the A61. The collision involved a silver Porsche Boxster, which was overtaking a blue Citroen Picasso. Both vehicles were heading out of Harrogate.

As a result of the incident the Porsche left the road before colliding with a tree.

The 27-year-old local man, who the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Traffic Sergeant Hamish Halloway, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or may have seen the Porsche prior to the incident please contact the police straight away.”
