A MAN who fitted a laser jammer to his Range Rover has been fined £1,000 after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice.
The driver, from Hertfordshire, was caught by an officer on the M180, apparently over the 70mph limit.
But when he tried to record the speed on his equipment, an error message displayed. An investigation followed involving Hertfordshire Police, who seized the car from the man’s home. The man later appeared in court and was fined £1,000 and £300 costs.
Casualty reduction officer Pc Barry Gardner said anyone considering having a jammer fitted should think again.
He said: “This is the first incident of its kind that I am aware of in the Humberside area and police will now be working to make sure that anyone who may have these fitted to their vehicles is also brought to justice.”
