Driver found dead in car on motorway

A MOTORIST was found dead in his car near Woodall services on the M1, south of Sheffield.

At 12.50pm on Monday, July 16 a lorry driver reported seeing a black Seat Leon car down the banking off the southbound carriageway of the motorway, at the end of the slip road joining the motorway from the services.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “When emergency services arrived the male driver from Eckington was found in the car and was unresponsive to medical treatment.

“Police are appealing to anyone in the area at the time that may have seen the black car leave the carriageway or who saw it down the embankment.”

Meanwhile, police also said yesterday that the death of a man on Lindsay Avenue in Parson Cross, Sheffield, last weekend is no longer being treated as suspicious.
