Driver hit in road rage incident

A DRIVER needed twenty stitches to his face after a road rage incident in Bradford.

The incident occurred off City Road, near the city centre, when the male driver of a silver Toyota Avensis became involved in a verbal altercation with a man driving a vehicle believed to be a black Seat Leon.

Both pulled over on Gaynor Street where words continued to be exchanged.

As the 54-year-old driver of the Toyota walked back to his vehicle, he was hit with an unknown object.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious cut to his face and was later released.

Pc Mereda Broadbent of Bradford South Police, who is investigating the incident, said: “It is important that we quickly trace the driver of the vehicle which is believed to be a black Seat Leon.

“This was a particularly vicious and unnecessary attack on a 54-year-old man which has left him with twenty stitches to his face.

“As you can imagine, such an attack can have a serious personal and emotional impact on the victim.

“We therefore want to hear from anyone who may have seen this incident occur or who has any information about the driver who made off from the scene.

“He is described as an Asian man, in his early to mid twenties, around 5’7” tall and was wearing a grey cardigan.”

Police are keen to speak to any witnesses to the incident which happened at 4.30pm on Tuesday, January 10.

Pc Broadbent added: “From our CCTV inquiries, we have also recovered an image of a black vehicle which was travelling along the road at that time. Do you remember seeing this vehicle and its driver or even the behaviour in which it was being driven?
