Driver left injured by road rage ride terror

A LORRY driver has described how he hung on for “grim death” as he clung to the outside of moving car for 100 metres following a road-rage incident.

Ian Main, 65, was left with a broken shoulder and ribs following the incident in the Little Horton area of Bradford, on Tuesday morning.

Mr Main said he was reversing off Dawnay Road when a car driver started ranting and raving at him.

He said the man threatened him because his way was blocked and then reversed his vehicle towards Mr Main’s truck.

“I put my arms out to defend myself and caught hold of it but then he slammed it into gear and drove off,” he said. “I was hanging on for grim death.

“I don’t know what was going on in my mind except that I was in big trouble.”

Mr Main, a lorry driver for 42 years, said he was thrown off the car when it hit a road bump.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault which left a man with injuries.

“A disagreement between a car driver and a lorry driver led to the lorry driver receiving injuries and being taken to hospital for treatment.”

The suspect is described as an Asian man, 20-30 years old, and about 5ft 9in tall. He was driving a dark car similar to a Ford Focus. He is believed to be from the local area.
