Driver who died after car hit tree in Keighley named by police

A motorist who died after the car he was travelling in collided with a tree in Keighley has been named by police.

Shaun Philip Howard, 30, of Keighley, died from injuries he suffered when the blue Fiat Punto he was driving left the road in Laycock Lane.

The car collided with a road sign and a tree and Mr Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other men, who were travelling in the same car, also suffered injuries in the crash, which happened near the junction with Braithwaite Road at around 11.10pm on Wednesday, May 24.

One of the men, aged 23, remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The other man suffered minor injuries.

Sergeant Ann Drury, of West Yorkshire Police's Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "We are continuing to appeal for witnesses to this collision."Anyone who witnessed it or the movements of the vehicle prior to it is asked to contact the team on 101, quoting log 2137 of 24 May."
