Drivers stopped in sex-attack hunt

POLICE carried out road checks and issued a further appeal for information yesterday, five weeks after a 14-year-old girl was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Sheffield.

A man grabbed the teenager as she was walking in a wooded area near Fox Hill Road and Edge Well Crescent at about 3.20pm on Thursday, November 4. Five weeks to the day after the assault, officers from Ecclesfield CID stopped drivers in Fox Hill to try and identify the person responsible.

Temporary Det Chief Insp Philip Etheridge, who is leading the investigation, said police were carrying out additional lines of enquiry and added: "I'm very keen to speak to anyone who may have information that can help identify the person responsible."

The attacker is described as a skinny white male aged about 18. Anyone with information is urged to call 0114 2202020.
