Drivers warned of roadworks delays

DRIVERS are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys as major roadworks lasting seven weeks get under way in south-east Sheffield early next month.

Yorkshire Water will be starting work on essential water mains replacement along the main A6135 Mansfield Road and Hurlfield Road in Intake on Thursday, February 3.

A spokesman for Sheffield Council said: "The first phase of the scheme will tackle the stretch along Mansfield Road from the junction with Hurlfield Road to Newlands Road.

"This will require one lane to be closed on the out of city side of the carriageway.

"The second stage of the work will deal with Hurlfield Road between Mansfield Road and Ridgeway Road and, again, this will require one lane to be closed.

"The section of Hurlfield Road on the approach to Ridgeway Road to make the straight ahead or left turn will have to be closed.

"There will be diversions signed during the closure period and the council's traffic information and control office will be monitoring the flow of traffic using the traffic cameras, helping the flow of traffic where possible."
