Drug teen dies after street collapse

A TEENAGE boy who was found collapsed in the street has died in hospital after what police believe was a “drug related” incident.

The 16-year-old, who has not been named, was found by officers who had been called to house on Wadworth Street, Denaby Main, near Doncaster, just before 8pm on Saturday.

South Yorkshire Police said the boy had been taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary immediately, but medics had been unable to revive him.

Three other people who were at the scene were arrested and questioned on suspicion of committing drugs offences.

A spokesman for the force said: “Both police and an ambulance were called to the house shortly before 8pm after a male was found collapsed in the street.

“The 16-year-old, who is local to the Denaby Main area, was taken to hospital but later died.

“Officers are not treating his death as suspicious. The three people arrested were not held over the death, but in connection with drugs offences.”

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place today.
