Drugs and guns found in house raid

DRUGS and guns were found during a police raid on a house in Huddersfield.

Officers arrested two men and a woman after finding two shotguns and a quantity of class A drugs at a house in Moor End Road, Crosland Moor.

The raid was carried out on Monday afternoon Operation Quartz, a new quick-response team set up to tackle drugs and associated crime in Kirklees.

The men, aged 46 and 35, and woman, 36, were arrested on suspicion of possessing illegally held firearms.

Detective Sergeant Damian Roebuck said: "The team of two sergeants and 13 constables has been set up to provide a fast response to intelligence relating to drug dealing in the Kirklees area."

Sergeant Ian Thornes, a member of the new team, added: "We received information early in the afternoon regarding illegally held firearms. Within an hour we had acted on this information and executed a search warrant. This is the speedy response we aim to provide the public of Kirklees."
