Drugs with potential street value of £300k are seized after car is stopped on M62 in Yorkshire

Police seized drugs with a potential street value of £300,000 after a car was stopped on the M62 in East Yorkshire.

The incident took place at about 6pm yesterday near junction 37 on the motorway’s eastbound carriageway, close to Howden.

Around 10 kilogrammes of drugs, including class A and B substances, were found.

A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “Initial estimates are that the drugs could have a street value of up to £300,000.”

A man has been arrested and is today in custody.

The Humberside force’s Det Chief Insp Mark Kelk said: “I’m delighted that these drugs have been found and taken off our streets.

“It is a significant seizure of drugs that were destined for our cities and towns.

“They clearly could have had a serious impact on our communities.

“Our priority first and foremost is the safeguarding of people in those communities.

“This is another good result by our officers. We continue to tackle individuals who are concerned in the supply of drugs and drug related crime.”
