Duchess boosts Bone Walk campaign

Schoolgirls who are raising money for the National Osteoporosis Society (NOS) were visited yesterday by the organisation's president, the Duchess of Cornwall.

The visit gave youngsters from the Royal School Hampstead, north London, a boost for their Big Bone Walk campaign – charity treks which they hope will help them raise total donations of 5,000.

When the duchess arrived she was greeted by junior pupils at the independent girls' school who had just completed a 40-minute walk, then ventured outside to see pupils from early years classes doing two laps of the playground in aid of the NOS.

The duchess presented the children with stickers for their efforts and made an impression on one four-year-old, Karla McKechnie, who told her: "I saw you on my mum's computer last night."
