Dungeon seeks junior reporter to crack case

Now York Dungeon is recruiting a cub reporter to do exactly that, help it report on the crimes of Jack the Ripper, and even help to solve them.

It has advertised on recruitment site Monster.co.uk for a “tenacious go-getter with a natural thirst for investigating crime, a way with words and scary situations must not faze them”, aged between 10 and 15.

In return, the York Dungeon is offering a notepad and pen, thesaurus, dictating machine and soft drinks on demand in addition to free entry. The job coincides with the attraction’s summer exhibition, Where’s Jack?

York Dungeon general manager Helen Douglas said: “We want someone to investigate the folklore and history surrounding Jack the Ripper and present their objective findings to the readers of The Daily News and our blog. Although Jack the Ripper was prominent in 1888, his infamy is still talked about to this day. By hiring a Junior Reporter, we hope to do justice to the historical story and communicate the facts and evidence, not just the sensationalism and notoriety of ‘Jack’, especially to our younger visitors.”
