Early hours attack leaves victim with eye injury

Detectives are appealing to revellers who may have witnessed an assault which left a woman with a serious eye injury.

The incident happened on Rougier Street in York in the early hours of Sunday July 26 between 12.30am and 12.45am.

The victim, a 26-year-old York woman, was assaulted by another woman who is described as white, aged in her 20s, of slim build, with a blonde, bobbed hairstyle. She was wearing glasses and was dressed in a black cardigan and short skirt.

The victim was taken by ambulance to York District Hospital for treatment and will require further surgery to her eye.

Police said Rougier Street was busy with people enjoying a night out at the time of the assault and officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault or has any other information that could help identify the suspect, to contact them.
