ED Brownlee has helped to round off a golden summer for his family after following up his brothers’ Olympic heroics with a set of A* results.
The 16-year-old younger brother of Team GB triathletes Alistair and Jonny picked up six A*s and four As at Bradford Grammar School yesterday.
He will now follow in his brothers’ footsteps to the school’s sixth form and although he too is a keen sportsman he prefers rugby and water polo to the triathlon.
The teenager from Horsforth, Leeds, picked up his A*s in biology, chemistry, physics, maths, geography and history and achieved A grades in English Literature, English Language, Spanish and IT.
Bradford Grammar School head Kevin Riley said: “I am delighted to see Ed achieve such a wonderful set of results and enjoy the limelight on this occasion.”
Ed told the Yorkshire Post of his pride at having watched his brothers deliver gold and bronze during London 2012 earlier this month.
He said: “It was amazing because they have been building up to the Olympics for the past four years. I was in the main stand by the finish line so we saw it all. It was a good event – lots of people had turned out to support them.”
Ed is now planning to study A-level biology, chemistry, geology and economics at Bradford Grammar but says he is keeping his options open for university.
