Eight hurt in explosion at industrial site
Eight people were injured in an explosion at an industrial estate which caused a massive blaze that was still raging last night.
The blast on the Hobbs Industrial Estate in Newchapel, near Lingfield, Surrey, at the premises of eReco EMEA, which deals with IT and electrical recycling, came just after 11.20am yesterday.
As those injured were transported to hospital, the emergency services warned local residents to close their windows and for the public to stay away.
Ian Thomson, of Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, said all those in the building at the time of the blaze had been accounted for and neighbouring units had also been evacuated.
