Eleventh hour callfor pub-deal funds

Villagers hoping to buy their countryside pub have called for an 11th hour fundraising drive to secure the full £220,000 needed to complete the deal.

More than 190,000 has been raised by residents of Hudswell, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, although the villagers only have until tomorrow to hit the target. A village co-operative had been established to buy the George and Dragon, which closed in the summer of 2008. Anyone who would like to make a donation can contact the Hudswell Community Pub chairman, Paul Cullen, on 01748 824379, or Martin Booth, on 07903 872635.
