Elite school in row over boundary wall

An elite boarding school could be ordered to demolish part of its boundary wall, which cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to build.

Queen Ethelburga’s College, near York, which charges up to 9,125 a term, wants planning permission to retain nearly 1000m (3,280 feet) of its boundary wall which in parts is more than 1.5m above the allowed height. The school says the wall provide substantially improved security.
