Elland Road date for rocker Rod

ROCKER Rod Stewart is to play at Leeds United's Elland Road ground it has been announced.

He will be strutting his stuff in Leeds on Friday, June 3, as part of his European tour.

Stewart said: "As a huge football fan, it's fantastic to be playing at another world famous stadium. I once said I was a rock star because I couldn't be a soccer star, so it's thrilling to get the chance to play venues like this.

"I always enjoy English dates and this being our only show in the north makes for a very exciting prospect."

The gig will be the first at Elland Road since it staged a homecoming for the Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs in 2008.

Other bands to have performed at the ground include Queen in 1982, U2 in 1987 and Happy Mondays in 1991.
