Emmerdale producer's widow devastated by break-in

The father-of-three died aged only 41 at St James's Hospital in Leeds a few weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.

His wife Suzy returned to the family home in Rodley, Leeds, on Thursday after his funeral in Southport earlier this week to find it had been burgled.

She appealed for help tracing items stolen in the break-in – including family photographs stored on a computer.

She said: "I am absolutely devastated that this has happened at what is already such a difficult time for our family.

"The laptop with all our precious family photographs stored on it has been taken, along with some of our most treasured possessions.

"I would be so grateful if anyone who knows anything about it would come forward."

West Yorkshire Police said the burglary took place between midnight on Monday and Thursday afternoon and a number of items had been stolen.

A spokesman said inquiries were underway in the area and forensic tests had been carried out.

Mr Blyth, who leaves a baby son Carter, and two other children Tom and Anya, was given the job of overseeing Emmerdale as the show's series producer in January last year.

He had held previous roles as its senior publicist, a writer and story editor and had implemented a major revamp of the long-running television programme.
