CAR dealer Lookers yesterday revealed that chief executive Peter Jones has retired after a long career in the industry.

Chief operating officer Andy Bruce has taken on the role of CEO as part of a succession plan which was announced last year.

Mr Jones, who had been Lookers’ CEO since October 2009, headed a management team which helped to increase the company’s profits.

Chairman Phil White said: “Peter has been an outstanding chief executive. He has led the company during a period where the profitability and market capitalisation of the company have increased significantly, with consecutive record results from 2009 to the present day.

“Peter is a top class leader with exceptional management qualities and I have really enjoyed working with him.”

FPS, Lookers’ parts distribution business, which employs more than 900 people across 22 sites in the UK, has its main hub in Sheffield where it has a workforce of more than 200. The site recently had a £1m investment.

Lookers Leasing and Group Fleet are both based in Harrogate.
