England rugby training camp causes gridlock in Leeds

AN England rugby training camp caused gridlock on the roads around Headingley Stadium in Leeds, today.

Around 5,000 tickets were distributed to schools in the region, so youngsters could get to see Stuart Lancaster’s rugby union side practice ahead of next week’s Six Nations opener against Scotland at Twickenham.

Drivers experienced traffic jams around the stadium as gates opened for the rare open training session at around 9.30am.

A spokesman for Leeds Rugby said: “It’s just to do with the England training session.

“It’s not a particularly large crowd for us so it’s just the normal routine for a match day in terms of car parking.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said no car accidents were reported around the stadium this morning.
