Attenborough wants united efforts to save wildlife from the brink
A new national report compiled by researchers from a coalition of 53 wildlife organisations and published today reveals that more than one in ten UK species are threatened with extinction.
More than half of species studied have declined since 1970; a deeply troubling trend which is blamed on intensive agriculture, climate change, habitat loss and urban sprawl, according to the ‘State of Nature’ report.

Ahead of the event, he praised the progress that had been made by conservationists since the first State of Nature report in 2013, but he also issued a stark warning.
“We need to build significantly on this progress if we are to provide a bright future for nature and for people,” Sir David said.
“The future of nature is under threat and we must work together; Governments, conservationists, businesses and individuals, to help it.
“Millions of people in the UK care very passionately about nature and the environment and I believe that we can work together to turn around the fortunes of wildlife.”
