The owners of the Ingmire Caravan Park at Marthwaite applied for planning permission to remodel existing holiday pitches, landscape areas of the site, demolish old toilets and build new washing facilities.

Members of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s planning committee approved the application after hearing Sedbergh Parish Council and the Yorkshire Dales Society were behind the plan.

Carl Lis, the authority’s member champion for sustainable development, said: “It’s good that the operators of the caravan park have recognised that there is a change in customer needs - one that will hopefully continue to encourage tourism within the National Park.” The carvan park will extend the season once the work is over.
